Sports Programme

The Idea - Every child has the right to be included in leisure and sports for holistic development. While many children do have access to such facilities, children disadvantaged by poverty or disability, require our support.

The Programme

  • Formation of socially-inclusive Sports Club to remove barriers which exclude children from the mainstream groups either due to poverty or due to disability.

  • Seek affiliation from State Sports Associations and bodies to get access to the best coaches and facilities for training of our children.

  • Include persons with disabilities in suitable sporting activities to create positive, qualitative and attitudinal changes resulting in a tangible shift in the perception of the concept of disability.

  • Seek access and make use of government sports complexes for benefit of our children who feel marginalized due to either disability, poverty or gender bias.

ISHWAR Shooting Sports Club

ISHWAR is affiliated to the Delhi State Rifle Association, the state body for shooting sports under the able support and patronage of Shri Jaspal Rana, Padmashree, Arjuna Awardee and Chief Coach of the Indian Junior Pistol Team. Members of ISHWAR’s shooting team are deemed members of Delhi State Rifle Association and are eligible to represent Delhi at the Zonal, All-India and National level shooting competitions and championships.

The Shooting Club was the conceptualized by Arvind Kamal, then a 17 year old young lad who achieved the status of National Renowned Shooter in pistol shooting. He envisioned bringing the sport to the under-privileged and specially-abled children studying at ISHWAR to enable their participation in shooting competitions, both as a sport and also to train them for a future career in the police / armed forces. He also coached children in shooting sports as part of his community service programme before leaving abroad for his higher education.

ISHWAR’s General Secretary, Anupam Kamal, also a National Renowned Shooter in pistol events, is a member of the Governing Board of Delhi State Rifle Association and President of the South Delhi District Rifle Association. He has taken upon himself to train ISHWAR’s children in shooting sports, providing them with coaching, shooting range access and even visiting the famous Dr Karni Singh Shooting Ranges in Tughlakabad, Delhi.

ISHWAR Chess Club

This Club was conceptualized by Mrs Anju Sachdev, President of ISHWAR. She is mother of Tania Sachdev, Arjuna Awardee and World Women Grandmaster and Commonwealth Games Medallist. She and her team introduced chess to children of ISHWAR. Many other renowned chess players help to train the children including coaches from the Delhi Chess Federation.
